人們對於外星生物或是不明飛行物體總有無限的好奇與幻想，然而日前居住在美國南卡羅來納州(Carolina)的居民，則是被天空中神祕的藍光與爆炸嚇得驚慌失措，以為外星人要入侵地球。

美國南卡羅來納州的天空在本(2)月13日凌晨2點時，出現幾個閃著藍光的不明飛行物體，且似乎正緩緩下降。幾秒鐘後，其中一個不明物體在空中爆炸，發出轟隆般的爆炸聲響，因爆炸產生的藍色光線更是照亮整個天空，整個過程被地面上的監視器完整記錄下來。

許多當地居民在睡夢中被爆炸聲響吵醒，接著看到閃著藍光的天空後都嚇壞了，紛紛打電話報警，認為是外星人在搞鬼，準備入侵地球。警察局專線瞬間湧進30通以上的報案電話，直到出動消防隊員前往查看才稍微平息民眾的恐慌。

但來自羅珀山科學中心(the Roper Mountain Science Center)的查爾斯聖盧卡斯博士(Charles St Lucas)則表示，這種種跡象看來，比較像是典型的流星，雖然先前預測是4月才會出現流星雨，但也有可能出現零星的流星墜落，並不是如民眾所想像的幽浮(UFO)，無須過於緊張。
