曾為尼克隊隊史「第一人」被下放發展聯盟的林書豪，回到NBA後因對籃網的比賽中替補上場有功，讓他獲得下一場對爵士的先發機會，林書豪不負球隊期望，以28分8助攻幫助最近積弱不振的尼克拿下第二次連勝，他也成為NBA31年來，首位生涯首度先發得28分8助攻的球員。

根據權威職業運動統計公司Elias Sports Bureau指出，生涯首度先發能有如此優異表現的球員，要追溯到1981年活塞隊出戰公鹿隊的比賽，當時活塞新秀控衛Isiah Thomas貢獻31分11助攻的成績。

Thomas的個子不高卻擁有出色的球技，曾為活塞拿下2次總冠軍，生涯許多輝煌的紀錄讓他入選NBA50大巨星和籃球名人堂，堪稱80年代最偉大的球員之一。

本季被專家評為令人失望球隊的尼克，在這段黑暗期裡，似乎從林書豪身上看到一絲曙光，總教練Mike D’Antoni過去執掌鳳凰城太陽隊的經驗和進攻體系也因此得以發揮，如林書豪能維持好表現，相信必能在NBA打出一片天。
